The Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network (CBWN) is breaking new ground as the first Commonwealth organisation to launch a community-wide app, aligning with its strategic direction and commitment to driving progress and leveraging innovative solutions to advance gender equality and economic empowerment for women.

In line with its commitment to staying at the forefront of the digital landscape, CBWN’s strategic partnership with InspireHUB, a leading provider of next-generation app technology, is being launched at a crucial period in the network’s aims to support and uplift businesswomen. This exciting collaboration signifies CBWN’s evolution into a dynamic and digitally integrated network.

The launch of the app has been timed to coincide with the recent GSMA Mobile Gender Gap Report 2023 which shows that more women in low- and middle-income countries are using mobile internet than ever before, but a significant gender gap remains. The launch also happens as Commonwealth Trade Ministers meet in London over the 5th and 6th of June with inclusive digital transition through digital trade being a key area of focus.

Freda Miriklis, Chair of the Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network, emphasised the significance of this collaboration in the current context. “The CBWN app is a significant milestone that is being launched in the midst of various key meetings and reports highlighting the gender digital gap and the importance of an inclusive digital transition. The app positions women at the forefront of technology and innovation within the Commonwealth ecosystem. By joining the digital spectrum with a new look and direction, we are fostering greater connectivity, collaboration and opportunities for women within the Commonwealth.”
