This Global Wind Day, we showcase South African renewables expert, Vuyolwethu Matiwane whose initial exposure to a small solar PV panel, battery and an AC inverter ignited her passion for renewable energy.

Her work in the renewable energy sector is driven by a passion to make a change, after what it is like to grow up in a rural area without services.

Vuyolwethu is recognised as being the first female to be elected by the IPP industry to the Grid Code Advisory Committee, contributing significantly to the progress of the country's energy future.

After receiving the 'Watt-A'Woman' award in 2023 at the SA Wind Energy Association's industry awards, her advise to young women aspiring to make a difference is to "work diligently, believe in themselves, and know that they deserve a seat at the table." [taken from esi-africa.com]
