Millie Ogden (Vanuatu CBWN Digital Tech Advisor) shares her first experience at CSW68 2024
This week in New York City, I had the profound joy and privilege of participating in my first UN Women's Commission on the Status of Women as a delegate of Vanuatu serving as an adviser. It was an exhilarating experience to be part of a global force dedicated to accelerating gender inclusion in the digital realm, private sector, policy-making, and securing access to climate gender-focused funds.
I was moved to my core when Honorable Minister Myles LaRoda of The Bahamas shared a poignant account of the most devastating cyclone to hit The Bahamas, mirroring the adversities faced by Vanuatu. Both nations have witnessed the sheer force of nature's wrath and understand the herculean effort required to rebuild our economies in its aftermath.
So proud to be part of the Commonwealth Businesswomen's Network with brilliant minds like Freda Mirikilis, Danika Kelly, Tamara Dancheva and Arif Zaman. We hosted a transformative side event focused on Digital Skills, Procurement and Free Trade Agreements. It was a privilege to contribute to these critical conversations and witness the powerful exchange of ideas and strategies for women's advancement in commerce. The highlight of our gathering was the exclusive cocktail event in partnership with the TX Foundation, graced by the esteemed First Lady Ann Marie Davis of The Bahamas.
It was an absolute delight to reconnect with Isabelle Carboni from GSMA at the launch of Women In the Digital Economy Fund. This initiative marks a significant milestone in bridging the gender gap in the digital world.
Attended The Commonwealth side event at the UN HQ Trusteeship Chamber on Gender and Climate Change in the Commonwealth.
CBWN recorded a podcast with Vanuatu Climate Attaché, Mr. Malcolm Dalesea at the Vanuatu UN Mission in New York on Gender, Climate Change and Technology.
Soroptomist International HQ team members discussed their commitment to making a difference for women living in remote island communities.
Was most wonderful building unforgettable new friendships at CSW68!
